In order for us to manage and discuss your affairs with HMRC we need to be registered with them as your tax agent.  The quickest way to notify HMRC that we are your agent is to use your Government Gateway account.  Please see instructions below on how to use your account to notify HMRC.  Please do not hesitate to contact the office if you need further assistance.


You will need:

  • Your Government Gateway username and password (if you do not have these you can register here but will need to wait for HMRC to send you an activation code via the post).
  • Our Agent ID which we will provide to you via email.

Please complete the below process for every tax that is relevant (Self Assessment, Corporation Tax, Making Tax Digital for VAT, Submit VAT Returns, PAYE for Employers) noting that you may have a different username and password for some of them.


  • Click here to access HMRC's login page, enter your username and password then click 'Sign in' 
  • If prompted, verify your login with an access code
  • At the top of the page click 'Manage Account'




  • Under 'Tax Agents' click 'Add, view or change tax agents'







  • Select the relevant service from the list and click 'Continue'
  • Alongside the relevant service if it says 'Manage agents' please click this then click 'Remove' then 'Remove agent' then 'Return to list of taxes and schemes'





  • Alongside the relevant service click 'Add agent'




  • Enter our Agent ID (sent to you via email) in the box provided and click 'Continue'









  • You will see a declaration - please click 'Add agent'



















  • Finally, you will see a confirmation screen that we have been added as your agent
